AHCA ABA Task Force Updates

FABA attended the second meeting with the AHCA ABA Task Force. Handouts from the meeting are linked below.

AHCA has officially announced the agenda for their next session—Meeting 2: Clinical Evidence, Transitions, Comparative Medicaid Models & Managed Care taking place on August 31, 2026. Following the task force's initial meeting earlier this month, this upcoming session will focus on several topics including:

• - Defining Applied Behavior Analysis, Early Detection, and Intervention
• - Applied Behavioral Analysis Funded in the School Setting
• - Comparison of Florida Medicaid’s Coverage to Other States

The first meeting of the Agency for Health Care Administration’s ABA Task Force was a productive discussion that underscored both the critical role behavior analysis services play for Florida families and the importance of protecting the integrity of the Medicaid program.

FABA President, Dr. Yanerys León, and FABA Past President, Dr. Kerri Peters, are both members of this newly formed task force, bringing years of clinical and leadership experience to these critical discussions about strengthening access to quality behavior services for thousands of Florida children. FABA Executive Director, Dr. Missy Olive, also provided public testimony at the meeting, advocating on behalf of our members and the families we collectively serve.

FABA will continue to participate in all Task Force meetings, and we're committed to keeping our members informed as this important work progresses. Together, we can help shape solutions that promote early intervention, high-quality individualized care, and the best possible outcomes for Florida's children.

The primary goals outlined include identifying bottlenecks in the prior authorization process and standardizing documentation requirements across regions.
